Carlin K. Hall, USPTA Director of Tennis
Carlin joined the Green Valley Tennis staff as a part-time assistant in the Spring of 2011. Carlin Hall was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina and started playing tennis at the age of seven. She began competing in local, state, regional and national competitions and consistently maintained top rankings in the 12 & under, 14 & under and 16 & under age divisions and ultimately represented the United States in the prestigious International Junior Federation Cup in 1999.
While competing for the USTA in the 18 & under age division, she ranked 3rd in North Carolina and earned a spot in the top 30 for the USTA Southern Sectional region. While attending Wayne Country Day School she won the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) Girls 1A State Tennis Tournament four years in a row. She played top seed and led her tennis team to four statewide championships and received both Player of the Year and All-Conference honors all four years. She also has a passion for basketball and received All-Conference honors for 3 years and was named Player of the Year her senior year, finishing with over 1000 points in her basketball career.
After high school, Carlin earned a full tennis scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2000-2004), where she competed at the Number 1 & 2 singles and doubles spot her junior and senior years. Carlin earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise & Sports Science with a concentration in Fitness Leadership in 2004.
Upon graduation, she completed her USPTA-P1 certification and began working at Starmount Forest Country Club as the Assistant Tennis Professional. She was promoted to Director of Tennis at Starmount in 2007, making her one of the youngest female Directors of Tennis in the state of North Carolina, and she worked in this capacity for three years where her most notable achievement was the development of a $2 million dollar indoor tennis and fitness facility. Carlin has two little boys, Kannan and Lawson.
Tyler Schofer joined Green Valley as a part-time assistant in the Summer of 2019. Tyler was born in Graham, North Carolina where he began playing sports at a young age. Basketball and golf were his first athletic passions, however at age 12 the love of tennis ensued.
Under the guidance of his father and High School coach, Tyler made his mark in his first three years at The Elon School (2009-2013), leading his team to three straight North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) state titles at #1 singles and doubles. His career combined singles and doubles record tallies at 125-13 at the High School level. Schofer also competed in top USTA junior tournaments where he finished his junior career ranked top 25 in North Carolina.
After High School, Schofer committed to play varsity tennis at Wingate University (2013-2017). While there, Tyler played number 4,5 and 6 singles as well as number 2 and 3 doubles. He helped his team earn three straight regular season South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Championships. Following his senior year, Schofer was named 2nd team All-Conference doubles for the SAC. Tyler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations as well as a Minor in Spanish achieving conversational proficiency in 2017.
In January 2018, Schofer moved to Miami, FL, where he worked as a part-time Tennis Professional at Flamingo Park Tennis Center in Miami Beach. While in Miami, Tyler began his modeling career, represented by Front Management. There, he walked in Miami Fashion Week, Miami Swim Week, and has been featured in fashion editorials for Lapalme Magazine. Schofer also modeled in campaigns for various designers in Miami. In July of 2018, Schofer’s most notable achievement came when he walked in New York Fashion Week for menswear designer Nick Graham, featuring his 2019 Spring/Summer line. He continued his modeling career in 2018 by relocating to Milan, Italy for the Fall months where he was represented by Independent Management.
After moving back home to NC in the Spring of 2019, Tyler began acting training and is currently represented by Marilyn’s Agency in Greensboro. Tyler has two younger twin sisters, Lanie and Caroline.
