As we begin our 10th season offering the Grinning Gators developmental program we are pleased to announce some exciting changes! The Grinning Gators program will now be offered from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., 4 days per week, Monday – Thursday, for five weeks from June 10, 2019, until July 11, 2019, at the cost of $90/swimmer. The focus of the program will be on swimmers aged 8 and under. This program has been designed to help our youngest swimmers improve their water confidence and stroke technique. Grinning Gators should be comfortable putting their face in the water, but not yet able to swim 25 yards.
We are glad to welcome Sally Lewis, Grinning Gators Program Director, to Green Valley this summer. Sally comes to GVP from her year round position as an Assistant Coach at the Greensboro Community YMCA. As a GCY coach, Sally works with young swimmers in the Jr.Makos program providing in water instruction to children aged 6 and under who are preparing for summer swim, and as an on deck coach for 8 and under swimmers. In addition to working as a swim instructor, Sally has also been a life guard, life guard trainer, and a pool manager. Sally understands the importance of swimming in the lives of children.
Sally is certified as a USA Swimming coach, and she has completed USA Swimming training in Coaches Safety and Athlete Protection, American Red Cross CPR and First Aid, and YMCA Principles of Coaching.
