Official team suit will be the TYR Durafast Elite solid in black for both girls and boys.  Girls will have the option again between the Diamondfit (thin strap) or Maxfit (thick strap).  Boys will have the option of jammers or briefs.

Female suit:         $61.00

Male Jammer:     $44.00

Male Brief:           $36.00

Pam Sizemore, our local representative, will be joining us on Sunday, February 25th during Registration Weekend with suits for swimmers to try on.  Pam will have a number of Gator suits with her so many swimmers who purchase a suit on the 25th will be able to take their suit home on the same day!

AFTER May 20th, suits will be full price.  While Swim Gear will be able to turn orders around quickly, there is no guarantee that the suit will be ready by the 1st meet:

Female suit:         $72.00

Male Jammer:     $52.00

Male Brief:           $42.00

Swimmers are encouraged to have a team suit, but it is not required.  If not purchasing a team suit, we ask that swimmers wear a suit with our team colors during meets if possible.

Personalized Caps:

Personalized silicone Gator swim caps are available for order via the Swim Gear online ordering portal.  The cost is $29 per two caps.   Deadline to order personalized caps is April 30, 2018.

Non-personalized silicone and latex Gator swim caps will be available for purchase during Registration Weekend, while supplies last.  The silicone caps can also be ordered online through the Swim Gear online ordering portal.

Can’t make Registration Weekend but still want a team suit and/or personalized swim cap?  No problem!  Visit the Swim Gear of NC Online Portal for suits and personalized caps:   Visit swimgearnc.itemorder.com (Password: GVP2018)

*There will be a 4% charged added to all internet orders

*Custom suits CANNOT be returned due to incorrect sizing; therefore, we strongly recommend that all swimmers try on a sample suit to help with choosing an appropriate suit.  Swimmers can visit the Swim Gear of NC store inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) during their regular hours to try on suits.  (Check store website for normal business hours.)

*Orders cannot be taken over the phone.

With proper care these new suits will last you through the summer and beyond. Please, do NOT wring or twist your suit, and do not put your suit in a machine which spins to remove excess water, it stretches the material. Simply rinse your suit out with cool tap water, and lay flat to dry.

Grinning Gators

The Grinning Gators is in the 9th year as a non-competitive swim team offered for the members of Green Valley Park. We offer a program including fun games, stroke development and water safety. This is a compliment and great segue from swim lessons into the competitive Gators team. The focus of the GG team is to provide our Gators the opportunity to participate in a socially inclusive team environment with the opportunity to improve their strokes and to enter into the competitive summer league with confidence if they choose.

The Grinning Gators will consist of swimmers from 4 years of age through 18 or the summer after senior year in high school. The ratio of swimmer to coach will be no more than 10 to 1.

Grinning Gators participants should be comfortable putting their face in the water. They should have the ability to propel their body forward in the water 10 feet and float on their back with minimal assistance.

2018 Grinning Gators season:

  • June 18th – July 18th (except July 4th)
  • Mondays & Wednesdays, 10am – 11am
  • Participation fee is $80 (includes Gator team t-shirt)

Registration Forms for Grinning Gators can be found on the “Registration” tab.

Meet Coach Katharine:

Katharine Ewing is originally from Greensboro, NC. She began swimming for the Gators at the age of seven, and was part of an eight-year record, held in both the 100M Medley Relay and 100M Freestyle Relay in the 8&U age group at Green Valley. Katharine began swimming year-round with SGSA when she turned nine and joined STAR Aquatics four years later, at the age of thirteen. She swam year-round until she turned seventeen.

Katharine attended Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, NC, from kindergarten through her senior year of high school. She began competing for the Trojans by the seventh grade, and earned her first “AAA” cut in the 100M Breaststroke when she was thirteen. She would later earn and hold “AA” cuts in the 200M Freestyle, 100M Breaststroke, and 200M Individual Medley by the time she was sixteen years old. She was among the top ranked twenty for six years in the 100M Breaststroke and 200M Freestyle in the NCISAA Women’s 3A Division while competing for Wesleyan. Katharine was named Most Valuable Swimmer both her sophomore and junior years of high school for the Lady Trojan’s swim team. She ended her swimming career in 2007 due to an illness, but returned to compete for her final summer season with Green Valley in 2008. In her last few months of swimming, she was lucky enough to be coached by the Gators’ former Head Coach, Scot Budde!

Katharine graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in May 2012, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

Katharine joined the coaching staff at GVP in 2006, and is returning in 2018 as the Head Coach for the Green Valley Gators. During the off-season, she teaches 4th grade at Cornerstone Charter Academy in Greensboro.

Katharine is excited and ready for another great season with the Green Valley Gators!
